Professional-grade Facility
Studio Dance Centre is located in
the Teel Village shopping center, at the corner of Main and Teel. Our
brand new facility includes a spacious and comfortable waiting area in
addition to the two studio classrooms with one-way observation windows,
shock-absorbent Harlequin dance floors, and wall-to-wall mirrors.

Studio Dance Centre’s values

Dance classes help develop skills beyond dance steps; they also build
self-discipline, creativity, musicality, arts appreciation,
self-esteem, and much more. Studio Dance Centre strives to be your
neighborhood dance studio—providing high-quality, fun dance
classes for dancers whose goals may be recreational or professional. We
believe that by emphasizing technique, class work, and community
performance, we are providing your family with the best possible dance
education.
Owner/Director Bio
Julie Holt Lucia (Ms. Julie) is the
owner and director of Studio Dance Centre. She has studied ballet,
modern, tap, jazz, and character dance, as well as anatomy, music, body
conditioning, and choreography. As a young dancer, Ms. Julie began her
pre-professional training in Plano at Gotta Dance, and attended summer
workshops at North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, NC,
and The Eglevsky Ballet in New Hyde Park, NY. Ms. Julie continued her
academic and dance studies by attending several arts-intensive high
schools, including Idyllwild Arts Academy in Idyllwild, CA, Mid-Pacific
School of the Arts in Honolulu, HI, and Douglas Anderson School of the
Arts in Jacksonville, FL, where she was the recipient of the
Outstanding Tap Dancer award upon graduation.
During college, Ms. Julie studied
for her BFA in Dance at Florida State University. It was there that she
expanded her in-depth dance studies under the instruction of Richard
Sias, Sheila Humphreys, Suzanne Farrell, Anthony Morgan, Patty
Phillips, Tom Welsh, and Douglas Corbin. She later shifted focus
academically and graduated from the University of North Texas with a
philosophy degree. Ms. Julie held two careers after graduation: one in
higher education and one teaching dance. While teaching under Cindi
Lawrence-Hanson at Gotta Dance, Ms. Julie was recognized for
"Outstanding Dedication" to her dancers. In 2005, Ms.
Julie decided it was time to plan for her own dance studio and
create a new place for dancers of all ages to learn and succeed.
Ms. Julie is a professional member
of two AAHPERD national associations: the National Dance Association
and the American Association for Health Education. Additionally, Studio
Dance Centre is a member of the Dance Council (serving North Texas),
the Frisco Chamber of Commerce, the Little Elm Chamber of Commerce, and
the Frisco Association for the Arts.
Faculty/Staff Bios
Kimberly Hasty
(Ms. Kim) is in her second year as the
Office Manager for Studio Dance Centre. She grew up in
Springfield, IL and studied dance in high school. Ms. Kim attended
Blackburn College and received a BA in Business
Administration/Management with certification in Leadership. She
previously worked as a Managerial Accountant in the healthcare industry
of Louisville, KY, before moving to Texas in 2005. Ms. Kim's
daughter, Addison, is Studio Dance Centre's unofficial mascot and
baby-in-residence. Both mother and daughter enjoy getting to know
the families who patronize Studio Dance Centre!
Jamie Williams
(Ms. Jamie) is in her first year as a Dance Instructor for Studio Dance
Centre. Ms. Jamie started her dance career in eighth grade drill team,
which led her to four years of drill team experience in high school
with the Ford High School Blue Belles in Quinlin, TX. It was there that
Ms. Jamie built experience in choreography, event participation, and
leadership, as she was named Captain her senior year. During her
time with the drill team, Ms. Jamie performed in Terrell and San
Antonio, TX, as well as at Disney World and with the Carnival Cruise
Company.
Currently Ms. Jamie is a student at
the University of Texas at Dallas studying Psychology and Performing
Arts. As a dancer at UTD, Ms. Jamie has been able to participate
in numerous classes including modern, jazz, and hip hop. She has
performed in fall showcases at UTD, as well as "Sprung." Not only has
she worked with Micki Saba, head of the dance department at UTD, Ms.
Jamie has also had the good fortune to study dance with Michelle Hanlon
of Elledanceworks, Kim Jackson of Collin County Community College, and
Jennifer Mabus of Robert Battle's company in New York, Battleworks.
While at UTD, Ms. Jamie has participated in the American College Dance
Festival Association (ACDFA) and worked with many more choreographers
from Texas and around the nation. Ms. Jamie's own choreography
has been presented at UTD showcases, as well as with the YMCA and other
teen groups with which she has devoted her time. As she wraps up her
college education, Ms. Jamie continues to perform, teach, and
choreograph, and looks forward to working with the dancers at Studio
Dance Centre!
Michele Marceline McCarthy
(Ms. Michele) is in her first year as the Assistant Manager and Dance
Instructor for Studio Dance Centre. She has studied ballet, tap,
modern, jazz,
hip-hop, and choreography, as well as anatomy, Pilates, stage lighting,
and
theatrical makeup. She began dance training at the age of three in her
hometown
of Wichita Falls, Texas at S.S.B. Dance center, under the
instruction of Sherri S. Barnhart. There she remained a student and active
participant of the studio's performing company until she graduated high school.
During her sophomore year of high school, Ms. Michele was nominated the captain
of her school's dance team, which allowed her to choreograph and lead weekly
rehearsals. She also participated in community performances, such as the Wizard
of Oz, a musical production funded by the Performing Arts Alliance of Wichita
Falls.
After graduation, Ms. Michele moved
to Denton, Texas to continue her academic and dance
studies at Texas Woman's University. As a dance major at TWU, she studied
numerous dance classes such as technique, composition, body conditioning,
education, performance, and production. Throughout her college career,
Ms.Michele was allowed the opportunity to work with various guest artists,
including Allyn Gartrell of Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Larry Keigwin of
Keigwin and Company, Michael Foley, and Aysha Upchurch. She also admired the
direction of her professors Mary Williford-Shade, Sarah Gamblin, and Stephanie
Milling-Robbins. After four long years and many tiring rehearsal hours,
Ms.Michele graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from TWU. Her experience
as a dancer at TWU allowed her to broaden her horizons and push her
relationship with dance to the professional level. Ms. Michele continues to
teach, choreograph, and perform, as she is currently performing with Muscle
Memory Dance Theatre, a professional company based out of Dallas/Ft. Worth. She
is also an active member of the Kinetic Artists Collective of Denton.
Veronica Young
(Ms. Ronni) is
in her first year as a Dance Instructor at Studio Dance Centre. Hailing
from Montclair, New Jersey, Ms. Ronni started dancing at the age of
three and has loved it since then. After graduating high school where
she was part of the School of Visual and Performing Arts, she went on
to attend college majoring in theatre and dance. While there she dance
on the University’s dance and drill team becoming captain in her
junior year. Ms. Ronni has danced with numerous companies around the
country and served as staff choreographer for Weird Al Yankovic's Touring with Scissors tour,
and Wild Adventures theme park. Ms. Ronni has had the great opportunity
to study with dance legends Carmen De Lavallade, Dudley Williams, and
Bill T. Jones. She was also granted the opportunity to train with Alvin
Ailey American Dance Theatre's summer workshop. Ms. Ronni has been
teaching dance for the past 13 years to students of all ages and has
loved every toe-tapping second of it!
Brittany Levraea (Ms. Brittany)
is in her first year as a Dance Instructor for Studio Dance Centre. She has studied ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop,
modern, musical theatre, and choreography, as well as acting, singing, and
technical theatre. Ms. Brittany started teaching dance in 2005 for
Repertory Company Theatre where she taught ballet, tap, jazz, and private
lessons. Ms. Brittany started her dance career on her
middle school drill team. As a member of
her high school drill team, The Silver
Stars, she performed at the Cotton Bowl and Disney World.
Ms. Brittany has a
Bachelor’s Degree in Performing Arts from the University
of Texas at Dallas where she studied dance, voice, and
theatre for four years as well as acquiring a minor in Criminology and Geology. While at UTD, Ms. Brittany
had the pleasure of working with Michelle Hanlon of Elledanceworks and Jennifer
Mabus of Robert Battle's company in New
York, Battleworks.
Apart from spending two years on the UTD hip-hop dance team, Power Dancers, Ms. Brittany has also
danced for the semi-professional basketball team Dallas Fury. Her love of
musical theatre has led to her new found passion of choreographing for shows,
including Cats, Oklahoma!,
and High School Musical. Ms. Brittany’s
work has been performed at several locations in the Metroplex including UTD,
Teatro Delle Muse, Courtyard Theatre, and Repertory Company Theatre. She was nominated for a Column Award and Leon
Rabin Award for Best Choreography for her work in the musical Cabaret. Ms. Brittany
is also a seasonal entertainer at Walt Disney World and has just returned from
performing in Mickey’s Once Upon a
Christmastime Parade. She looks
forward to growing as a dancer, teacher, and choreographer with Studio Dance
Centre!
